Details
The Indonesian islands of Bali, Lombok and the Gili Islands are nothing short of paradise on earth, with dense, monkey-populated jungles giving way to idyllic white sand beaches, turquoise seas, marine life in spades, and no shortage of cultural excitement, from temples to markets and everything in between.
This magical escape begins as you fly into Bali and transfer straight to the wonderful, jungle-surrounded town of Ubud, often heralded as Bali’s cultural centre. Rest up in the blissful surrounds of your first hotel, Anulekha Resort & Villa, before heading out with an expert guide to discover the towns of Batu Bulan, Mas and Celuk, plus the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Elephant Cave and the lava-stained slopes of majestic Mount Batur. You’ll have the next two days at leisure, with the option to go on river rafting and mountain biking excursions, then whizz of to Padang Bai, ready to board your boat to the Gili Islands.
Gili Trawangan is your second stop; one of three islands that make up a wonderfully idyllic trio. Here you’ll be bedding down at Oceano Jambuluwuk Resort, which sits on the quieter, northern end of the island. Spend two nights truly blissing out, lounging on the beaches, snorkelling to spot wildlife and cycling around the island (no cars are permitted on any of the Gili Islands). Whatever you do, make sure you get over to the west side of the island to witness a magical Indonesian sunset.
Next stop: Senggigi, on the island of Lombok. A short boat ride, and you’ll be on another paradaisical beach, for two more nights of lush jungle-loving and awe-inspiring sunsets at your hotel, Holiday Resort Lombok. While you’re here, you’ll be introduced to Mataram on a city tour, visiting the Mayara Water Palace, the eternal youth-giving springs of Taman Narmada and the Temple of Lingsar, where Muslims and Hindus worship in unity.
Your final stop of the trip is Benoa, back on Bali’s mainland. Your home here is Sadara Boutique Beach Resort, on the Nusa Dua peninsula. Other than lying horizontally on the stunning beach and splaying your toes in the soft white sands, we recommend journeying to Uluwatu Temple for sunset and a magical fire show, testing out the south coast’s beaches, indulging in some (knock-off) retail therapy in Kuta, and pampering yourself silly in the hotel’s traditional spa before you head home.
Good to know
Please be aware that, for 2019, Ramadan takes place from 5 May until 4 June. During this time, tourists cannot eat in public, alcohol will be served from 7pm and room service will be available 24 hours a day. Every healthy Muslim fasts from dawn until dusk and as twilight falls the city comes alive, with bustling ‘Ramadan tents’, where tourists can mingle with locals, sample a variety of traditional dishes and entertainment, and chat late into the night.
This holiday allows you to spread the cost of your break by paying only the deposit upfront. The remaining balance is due at a later date and is to be paid directly to the holiday supplier (the exact date will be stated on your booking confirmation).
Please note that your inbound and outbound flights may be overnight, so be sure to take this into account when planning the time you'll be away.
Please note that at the time of booking, your name must be filled out exactly as per your passport (including any middle names). This is in order to accurately book flights and for any required visa invitation letters.
Please be aware that our supplier, Exoticca, will require a copy of the valid passports in order to process the reservation.
